Hey everyone, it’s been a while. I’ve had quite the busy weeks to the point where I didn’t publish anything in October. Crazily enough, I even had a post ready to go which I published earlier this month. It was the first time since May 2019 that I had a post-free month. Two years and five months, quite the ruined streak, but I will just build up another one. In spite of the media doom and gloom, we have so much to look forward to. Christmas with family, gathering with friends and most importantly, the Advent of Code 2021 edition.
Last year I prepared a few days before to have a project template that would allow me to speed up development since I picked a language that I was just learning then: Golang. Funnily enough, it was the first year where I completed every single one of the twenty-five challenges. Even woke up at 5 am to work out beforehand. It was a demanding time both physically and mentally speaking but still powered through it until the final day. To up the ante, I even committed myself to publish a blog entry for each day which I then shared on Twitter. This year, I will share my entries exclusively on Minds because, well you know why.
This year I’m still not sure what I want to do. Back in October, I skipped the Hacktoberfest due to how busy I was. And, hours before it begins, I still haven’t prepared for this Advent of Code 2021. I do not want to break this tradition, even better I want to strive to have back-to-back by completing all 50 exercises in this 25-day challenge for the second year in a row. Now that would be something. Maybe I’ll go ahead and pick up a template from last year to do it in Golang once more. Heck, I could even go further in time and pick up the 2019 template in C# to speedrun the whole thing.
As I am writing, the time keeps running out. Should I take a chance by learning a language literally on the day of AoC using Python? Should I go and participate using the familiar Java for the first time in my Advent of Code history? It doesn’t matter what I end up doing, maybe I won’t know until 6 am December 1st, 2021. But what I know is this, I am going to compete and complete this Advent of Code 2021. Mark my words.
